Equine Assisted Learning (EAL)

Cartier Farms EAL & Dreamwinds

"Equine-Assisted Learning is a powerful, professional and effective approach, proven to have a positive impact on individuals of all ages". (Cartier Farms).

EAL

"is an experiential approach to teaching life skills like leadership, communication, and teamwork using horses. Our Equine Assisted Learning program is an objective-bases learning program where participants work on the ground with the horses through carefully designed objective-based obstacles and problem-solving exercises.

The horses' sensitive nature, awareness of their surroundings, and herd instincts make them exceptional teachers. Horses look for a leader-the same kind of compassionate, clear, and confident leader that people seek-and through our many experimental programs, they help gently guide participants, letting them know when they get it right and when they have the opportunities to grow!

Work together with groups and teams and learn to lead through these patient and trusting animals." (Dreamwinds).

Horses tend to be kind and forgiving. Horses have easy to read body language that we can learn and learn from. By their intuitive nature, horses can provide insight into our personality and energy.

Equi-psychotherapy

One service being offered at Broken Saddle Riding is equi-psychotherapy in partnership with Mind at Peace Centre Mieux-Etre.

This type of therapy uses equine partners as active participants in therapy (TA Method). In other words, the horse's emotional state cannot be controlled, but you can influence the horse's state in positive directions by consciously managing your own bodily reactions, as well as your thought processes and responses to stress and trauma  (H.E.A.L.).

This type of therapy offers a series of ground work with the horses with a specialized therapist and equine specialist (to ensure your safety). Anyone can benefit from equi-psychotherapy sessions, regardless of age, and treatments are catered to the person's needs.
